This symbol has been around for years.

So yeah. This is the symbol that has always been on the Hylian shield.
Turns out the symbol is a Loftwing, one of the giant guardian birds from The legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
That symbol first appeared in Ocarina of Time, on the Hylian Shield.
They knew to put this symbol of a Loftwing, a creature from a game from 2011, on a shield game that came out in 1998.
They planned this shit out more than a decade in advance.
